Your details, and what we do with them
This notice explains how Unmapped Labs handles the personal information you send us through unmapped.co.za, as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) requires. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Who we are
Unmapped Labs is a trading name of Anton Ferreira, a sole proprietor, of Cape Town, South Africa. Anton Ferreira is the responsible party and the Information Officer. Contact: privacy@unmappedlabs.com.
What we collect
- What you type into our forms: your name, work email, company and role, what data you need and why, the value range you choose, and your choices (such as which plan interests you).
- For security only: a one-way scrambled version of your internet address (we can’t turn it back into the address) and your browser type, stored with your submission to stop abuse.
The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
Why we use it
- To reply to you, and to prepare a proposal if you reserved a founding place.
- To decide which datasets to build next.
- To send occasional news about new datasets, only if you ticked that box. Every email has a way to stop them.
- To protect the site from spam and abuse.
We rely on your consent, which you give when you send a form, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure (POPIA section 11).
Who else sees it
Nobody we sell or give it to. Two service providers process it for us: Cloudflare, which hosts the site and its database, and Microsoft 365, which carries our email. They may store or process it outside South Africa, under their own contractual protections (POPIA section 72).
How long we keep it
For up to 24 months after we last hear from you, then we delete it. Ask us to delete it sooner and we will.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent, by emailing privacy@unmappedlabs.com. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
Security
Your details travel encrypted, are stored with a reputable provider, and only the owner of Unmapped Labs can read them.
