What will my electricity bill be?

Pick who supplies your electricity and how much you use, and see what you’ll pay this year on each household tariff, line by line, and how much more it is than last year. Worked out from the tariffs NERSA approved for 2026/27, for 40 municipalities so far and Eskom.

Your bill or prepaid slips show how many kWh you use. Municipal tariffs run from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027; Eskom’s from 1 April 2026.

How the bills are worked out

Every figure comes from the decision NERSA, the energy regulator, made on each municipality’s tariffs for 2026/27, checked against the page it’s printed on. A bill adds up each charge on the tariff for a 30-day month: energy in blocks where the price rises with use, fixed charges per day or month, and VAT at 15% where the decision says its tariffs exclude it. Winter prices apply from June to August.

Some tariffs can’t be priced from a monthly total: time-of-use tariffs need your use by time of day, and some larger supplies charge for demand. The bill API prices those too, and works out the bill with and without solar panels.
